Selected work

A selection of client work from more than a decade of WordPress development, plus a product I built and run myself. Most of these were long engagements where I owned the codebase, not one-off tickets.

WooCommerce Store Modernization

The problem

An eCommerce company brought me in to run five WordPress sites: its main WooCommerce store and four landing sites that sent traffic to it. The store ran on a legacy codebase that was hard to maintain and slowed down new features, and moving data between the store and the company's Acumatica ERP depended on manual work.

What I did

I took primary ownership of the store and modernized it end to end. I refactored the legacy code onto a Sage-based architecture and optimized assets. I built a custom API integration with the company's Acumatica ERP to streamline data flows between the store and the ERP. I also shipped responsive landing pages for ongoing marketing campaigns.

The result

The store became more than 50% faster. The codebase became easier to maintain, so new features shipped faster, and the ERP integration significantly reduced manual data work.

Lead Pipeline Integrations

The problem

An agency maintained a client's WordPress site that captured leads and passed them to marketing and call center services, through a custom theme and custom plugins. Leads came in from several sources and had to reach LeadConduit, a real-time lead optimization platform, and the client had detailed tracking requirements.

What I did

I maintained and extended the site's custom theme and plugins, and integrated it with LeadConduit through its API. I connected different LeadConduit flows with BlueShift, and built Zapier integrations to bring leads from additional sources into LeadConduit. I also set up and tested Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to meet the client's tracking requirements.

The result

Leads from every source flowed into LeadConduit through one set of integrations, with tracking set up and tested against the client's requirements.

Multisite Platform and Custom Theme

The problem

Rosh Review, a medical exam prep company, needed to split its existing WordPress website into several child sites that could still be managed as one platform, while keeping the main site fast and well maintained.

What I did

I built a new WordPress multisite environment and reorganized the existing website into separate child sites. I built the main theme using Tailwind CSS and the Tonik starter theme, and reviewed and updated the child themes for better performance. In an earlier engagement with the same client, I improved overall site speed, built new themes with ACF and Gutenberg, handled API integrations, and took care of ongoing maintenance and bug fixing.

The result

The company moved from a single site to a multisite platform, with a new main theme, faster child themes, and technical SEO maintenance handled throughout the engagement.

“As a designer I would spend time on the important details of my work, and Cesar would make sure to precisely translate those details. His attention to detail cut out the back and forth of many comments and updates, saving countless hours of time.”

Multilingual Corporate Site

The problem

TestGorilla, an HR tech company, needed its corporate site, built on an existing theme and custom plugin, to support multiple languages. Releases across several environments were also causing avoidable issues.

What I did

I updated the existing theme and custom plugin to support multiple languages, with a proper structure for content localization, and automated part of the translation workflow using XLIFF files. I built custom scripts to improve technical SEO, site performance, and monitoring, so issues were found faster. I also stabilized the deployment process across the company's multiple environments.

The result

The site was localized into multiple languages on a properly structured codebase, part of the translation workflow was automated, and releases across environments caused fewer issues.

“I had the good luck of working with Cesar on a complex project, with lots of moving parts and tight deadlines. Not only his technical skills are great, but he was also thinking outside the box, in order to make things move forward and help the team deliver.”

Platform Migration to WordPress

The problem

An electronic music publication needed to move its site from the Tempest platform to WordPress, and its Bandcamp subscribers had to keep working with the new site.

What I did

I led the full migration from Tempest to WordPress and built a custom plugin that integrated the publication's Bandcamp subscribers with WordPress. After launch, I took over ongoing maintenance of the site.

The result

The publication moved to WordPress with its Bandcamp subscriber integration in place.

NextTurn

The problem

Businesses that serve customers in person often still run their queues with paper tickets and crowded waiting lines. They need a simple way to organize who is next, treat priority customers fairly, and keep each business's setup separate.

What I did

I designed and built NextTurn as a multi-tenant SaaS from the ground up, on Laravel and Livewire. Each business gets its own service points, staff accounts, and queue settings. I built a priority algorithm that fairly interleaves priority and regular clients, a real-time public display screen, and a full audit log of every ticket state. Billing runs through Paddle, and the product supports English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

The result

NextTurn is live with active subscribers. I built it and run it solo: product design, backend, infrastructure, and billing.
